Maybe I started to tread upon a new path just couple of weeks ago. Today I finished recording demos for three completly new songs. So; what is new then? Well... if I find a song inspiring, I use the form of the song to create new lyrics. Then I just invent a new songmelody and just rock out to my favorite song. And believe it or not; there I have it!
So the formula is simple:
- Find a song I dig
- Find out the form and the lyrics
- Base new lyrics and new chords on that form
- Play around with it
- Practice and try out the lyrics and the form with chords
- Record demo with just vocals and acoustic guitar
Easy, right?
I am now sending the demos to people I trust to see what they say.
